Field Note #07 / Attention
The Clouds Were Trying To Impress Me
Opening Thought
I was trying to use the ghost tree as my subject. But the clouds were trying to impress me.
What I Noticed
I came for the tree.
At least that’s what I thought.
The clouds had more movement. More weight. More presence.
The tree stayed in the frame.
But it stopped being the reason I was there.
Why It Works
The tree never changed.
My attention did.
Beyond The Frame
We often think attention belongs to the thing we chose.
But attention is not always obedient.
A conversation, a place, or a moment can begin with one focus and slowly reveal another.
Sometimes what matters most is not what we came for.
It is what keeps asking to be seen.
Try This
Notice when something unexpected keeps pulling your attention back.
Visual IQ Takeaway
The tree stayed in the frame. But it stopped being the reason I was there.
